Mustafa Mohammed Hussein Al-Hakiem is a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Basrah in 2013 and his Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2020 with a grade of Very Good. His master’s thesis was entitled “Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Evaluation of Some Sulfa Drug Derivatives.”
He joined the College of Pharmacy as a Teaching Assistant in 2014, where he participated in laboratory teaching in the Department of Pharmaceutics. After completing his master’s degree, he joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry as an Assistant Lecturer and was promoted to Lecturer in January 2026. His teaching experience includes theoretical and laboratory instruction in Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Organic Pharmaceutical Chemistry, in addition to preparing lectures, laboratory activities, examinations, student assessments, and technology-supported educational materials.

His research interests include medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry, synthesis and characterization of biologically active compounds, sulfonamide and curcuminoid derivatives, molecular docking, ADMET prediction, computer-aided drug design, and the antibacterial and anticancer evaluation of newly synthesized compounds. He has published peer-reviewed research articles addressing sulfonamide Schiff bases, curcuminoid derivatives, antibacterial activity, cytotoxicity, molecular docking, and ADMET analysis.

His technical experience includes chemical synthesis, thin-layer chromatography, interp
retation of FT-IR, NMR, and mass-spectrometry data, biological activity evaluation, and the use of AutoDock, AutoDock Vina, AutoDockTools, PyRx, Discovery Studio, SwissADME, and ProTox-II.

He successfully completed the Teaching Methods toward Blended Learning According to the Updated Curriculum course at the University of Basrah in 2025. He has served on university examination committees for three academic years and is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate, Basrah Branch.
